Children's Health Holiday Parade in Dallas cancelled over weather concerns

The Children’s Health Holiday Parade has been cancelled over the threat of inclement weather this weekend.

The parade, scheduled to take place Saturday morning in downtown Dallas and air on WFAA Channel 8, was cancelled for just the second time ever.

Temperatures are forecast to be in the 40s on Saturday with a high likelihood of rain.

“Despite today’s beaming sunshine, weather forecasts for DFW include a high probability of heavy rain and cold temperatures on Saturday,” read a statement from Scott Summerall with Children’s Health. “Due to these impending weather conditions and the fact that many of the acts cannot perform in the rain, we are canceling the Children’s Health Holiday Parade out of concern for the well-being of the patients and families we serve.”

WFAA will re-air last year’s parade broadcast Saturday at 10 a.m.

Those who have purchased tickets will be given the option to receive a full refund less the service fee. Any unclaimed refunds will be donated to Children’s Health, Summerall said.
