Frisco man in viral job offer video gets surprise from Steve Harvey

Ben Sunderman, a McKinney teen with disability, was elated last week when he got an acceptance letter for his first job from the Embassy Suites. Jobin Panicker has more.

Ben Sunderman, the then-19-year-old from Frisco whose reaction to a job offer letter went viral in 2015, is moving on up.

Sunderman warmed our hearts in April of 2015 when he opened a letter in the mail offering him an internship with Embassy Suites in Frisco. The job offer came through a nationwide program called Project SEARCH, which aims to transition people with disabilities into the workforce.

Two years later, Ben is an employee at the hotel who loves his job taking care of the laundry.

And on Tuesday, he made another appearance on TV screens across the country as a guest on Steve Harvey's talk show for a segment spotlighting Project SEARCH and Embassy Suites.

"My favorite thing to do is help people," Sunderman says in a video played on the show. "I'm proud of my work and I'm proud of my friends and family."

Harvey surprised Ben with a visit from his Project SEARCH mentor, Casey, and with a $5,000 gift for Ben's basketball team, the Frisco Flyers.
