Fort Worth officers surprise young boy who wrote them a 'thank you' letter

FORT WORTH - Sammy Daneman likes police officers, so he wrote them a letter a school.

"Thank you for protecting me and my family," the letter reads.

The fan mail was signed with love to the Fort Worth Police Department.

The six-year-old's mother, Julie, posted it on Facebook and thousands of people saw it, including Fort Worth police officers.

"That is great," said officer Jimmy Polozani.

On Thursday, the department decided to send a message to Sammy in return.

Six patrol cars and a group of officers surprised the first grader at his house after school. A police helicopter was also patrolling close by and hovered over the neighborhood for a few minutes.

After reading the letter, they wanted to thank Sammy in person.

"To let you know the police is always there for you," Polozani told Sammy.
