Janet St. James

Your Health Matters

Janet St. James joined WFAA-TV in July 1996 as a general assignments reporter. Over the years, she has covered a wide variety of stories, including major events like the Jarrell and Fort Worth tornadoes and the dragging death of James Byrd. She now does in-depth reporting on health and medical issues.


Prior to joining Channel 8, Janet worked for TV news departments in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Abilene.

Her work has been honored with many awards including an Emmy, a National Headliner's Award, several Associated Press awards, the Vivian Castleberry Award (Association of Women Journalists), and more.

Before beginning a career in journalism, Janet earned a teaching certificate and completed her student teaching in the Arlington Independent School District. She is certified to teach journalism, speech and English in secondary school. Janet received her bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Her husband, Jack, publishes a country music magazine called Country Music Today. They have three children; Jackson, Olivia and Lucas. They also have a crazy dog named Emmy.
