Jim Fry joined WFAA-TV in 1982, and has reported the city hall and transportation beats. Prior to joining WFAA he worked as a reporter with radio station WFAA-AM. He has served as a political correspondent for the Missouri Times and as a radio reporter for the Missouri Net, the statewide radio network, for radio station KLMS, Lincoln, Nebraska and radio station KFRU, Columbia, Missouri.
