Your Health Matters

Jim began in radio news in Cincinnati, OH in 1980. (Think "WKRP in Cincinnati" and you get the picture) He moved into television news in Louisville, KY in 1983, then spent two years at WKRG in Mobile, AL before coming to north Texas in 1985. He spent 10 years anchoring and reporting at KXAS-TV, then transitioned to WFAA-TV.

Jim has been fortunate to cover some major stories in recent Texas and U-S history, including hurricane Katrina, the Florida legal proceedings in the 2000 presidential race, the military cadet murder trials, the massacre of 23 people at a Luby's in Killeen, and the tragic shootings at Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth.

Professional honors include 3 regional Edward R Murrow awards for news writing, reporting from the Balkans on the Kosovo refugee crisis, and the impact of methamphetamines on unborn children. He's also received two medals from the Texas Headliner foundation for reporting on homelessness, and the challenges of peacekeeping in war-torn Bosnia. Other honors include a Lonestar Emmy and numerous awards from the Associated Press, UPI and other organizations.
