ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers are calling on fans to donate blood before the start of Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners.
The blood drive comes days after the plant explosion in West, Texas, killed at least 14 people and injured more than 200. Carter BloodCare said its supplies of blood were depleted immediately after the incident.
The Rangers said in a statement that Carter BloodCare is holding a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Fans wishing to help can also bring gift cards or cash donations to be collected at the park.
The game starts at 2:05.
The Houston Astros also have asked fans to donate cash and items during a six-day homestand that ends Wednesday.
