ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — A.J. Pierzynski and Mitch Moreland hit back-to-back home runs yesterday to help the Texas Rangers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4. Alexi Ogando earned the victory and Rangers closer Joe Nathan picked up career save No. 300. Evan Longoria had three hits and a walk for the Rays.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Rangers have acquired catcher Robinson Chirinos from the Tampa Bay Rays for a player to be named or cash. The deal was announced yesterday before the teams opened a three-game series. Chirinos was designated for assignment on March 31st when the Rays set their opening day roster.

SEATTLE (AP) — Kendrys Morales drove in two runs yesterday in the Seattle Mariners' 3-0 win over the Houston Astros. Seattle's Joe Saunders rebounded from a rough first start to throw six-plus shutout innings. Philip Humber took the loss for Houston after giving up three runs in six innings.

HOUSTON (AP) — Hundreds of people attended a memorial service in Houston yesterday for former Texas A&M player and Houston Oilers coach Jack Pardee. He died of cancer on April 1st at the age of 76. Pardee's son, Ted, said yesterday that his father's three loves were, "God, family and football."
