DOVER, Del. (AP) — Tahj Tate scored 14 points and Tyshawn Bell came off the bench for 13 in Delaware State's 57-43 win over Coppin State on Saturday.
Delaware State (11-13, 6-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Association), which had lost two straight, trailed 22-15 before using a 22-4 run that spanned both halves to take a 37-26 lead with 10:57 left. Coppin State never got any closer than nine the rest of the way.
Bell made 5 of 9 shots, including three 3-pointers, in 16 minutes of action.
Delaware State made just 9 of 25 shots in the first half but improved to 50 percent (13 of 26) after intermission. The Hornets outrebounded Coppin State 33-26 and scored 11 second-chance points off the advantage.
Coppin State (5-21, 2-9) shot 39 percent (18 of 46) and attempted just four free throws.
Taariq Cephas had 14 points for Coppin State, which got just 10 points off the bench.
