CLEVELAND (AP) — Jeanmar Gomez and three Cleveland relievers combined to beat the Texas Rangers 4-3 and the Indians snapped a six-game losing streak last night. Texas entered with a four-game lead in the AL West over Oakland and lost for just the fifth time in 16 games.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Joe Bergeron and Malcolm Brown both rushed for more than 100 yards and combined for three touchdowns, leading Number 15 Texas to a 37-17 win over Wyoming on Saturday night. Texas quarterback David Ash, who won the starting job over Case McCoy this year, was an efficient 20-of-27 passing for 156 yards and a touchdown to Jaxon Shipley in Austin.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Eric Stephens ran for two touchdowns to lead Texas Tech over Northwestern State 44-6 last night. Stephens, back after a season-ending knee injury last year, finished with 58 yards on 16 carries. The Red Raiders defense succeeded in shutting down the Demons rushing game and quarterback Seth Doege led Tech on scoring drives on five of eight possessions in Lubbock.

IRVING, Texas (AP) — Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten was on the practice field in pads Saturday, hoping to play in Wednesday's season opener at the New York Giants. Yesterday's practice was the first time Witten had been in pads since lacerating his spleen in the preseason opener on August 13th at Oakland. Witten says he may wear additional padding like Tony Romo wore last season after the quarterback fractured his ribs.
