HOUSTON (AP) — Rice fired defensive coordinator Chuck Driesbach and recruiting coordinator/running backs coach Rick LaFavers on Monday.

Driesbach and LaFavers had worked with coach David Bailiff since he arrived at Rice in 2007. The Owls are 23-38 under Bailiff after going 4-8 this season.

Driesbach coached the Owls linebackers for his first three seasons before switching to safeties in 2010. LaFavers originally coached the Owls' tight ends and coordinated special teams. He became the running backs coach and recruiting coordinator in 2010.
