TRINITY RIVER VIDEO CONTEST RULES
OFFICIAL RULES
NO PURCHASE OR ONLINE ACCESS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.
1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: WFAA-TV Project Green Trinity River video contest will highlight North Texas residents who have demonstrated innovation through the creation of an educational one minute video about the Trinity River. The goal of the video contest is to inform the public about the condition of the Trinity River, spark initiative for change and improve the quality of the environment. One individual will be named the winner of the contest.
2. ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open only to legal residents of Texas who are 13 years of age or older at the time of entry. ENTRIES BY CONTESTANTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST BE SUBMITTED BY THE CONTESTANT’S PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN WHO IS 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER AT THE TIME OF ENTRY. Void where prohibited by law. Winners of previous WFAA-TV and WFAA.com contests or sweepstakes are not eligible to win another WFAA-TV and WFAA.com contest within a 90-day period.
Employees, temporary employees, independent contractors and interns of WFAA-TV, Belo Corp., Trinity River Environmental Education Society, their respective subsidiaries, parents, partners, other contest sponsors, advertising and promotional agencies (hereinafter “Contest Providers”) and the immediate family members of, and any persons living with, any such employees are not eligible to enter or to win prizes. The term “immediate family members” includes spouses, parents, grandparents, siblings, children, and grandchildren.
BY ENTERING THIS CONTEST, YOU AGREE TO THE BELO PRIVACY POLICY, LOCATED AT http://www.wfaa.com/terms-and-conditions/privacy-policy AND THAT YOUR ENTRY AND THE PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTED FROM YOU IN CONNECTION WITH THIS CONTEST WILL BE SHARED WITH THE CONTEST PROVIDERS.

3. HOW TO ENTER: Entry can be done in two ways: (1) Online: Follow all instructions listed at facebook.com/wfaaprojectgreen to post your video, observing all posted deadlines (see DEADLINES below), or (2) by picking up and completing an entry form from WFAA-TV, 606 Young Street, Dallas, Texas 75202 and submitting your video. Indicate “Trinity River Video Contest Entry" on the outside of the envelope. All mail entries must be postmarked by the posted deadlines. (see Deadlines below).
VIDEO REQUIREMENTS: Each video submitted must meet the following requirements:
- Videos must not exceed one minute in length.
- The video must tell the problem of trash in the Trinity River, tell the importance of the Trinity River to North Texas and provide a solution to the problem.
- Each video must be an original composition and may be shot and edited in any format.
- Videos must not infringe any third party’s rights, including, without limitation, copyright, trademark, right of publicity, or right of privacy
- Videos must be suitable for display and performance in a public venue and not contain any content or performance that is sexually explicit, offensive, illegal, pornographic or obscene or that is in bad taste or is otherwise objectionable to Contest Providers.
- Videos must not contain libelous or otherwise defamatory statements (including but not limited to words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic group)
- Videos must not include any threats to any person, place, business, group or world peace
- Videos must not contain any commercial content that promotes any product or service or contain or reference any third party names, logos, service marks, trade names or trade dress
If your video contains likenesses of anyone other than yourself, you must obtain releases from such parties granting the Contest Providers the right to display their likenesses on facebook.com/wfaaprojectgreen prior to your submission. Contest Providers will require a copy of any releases prior to posting such videos.
Any video submission that does not comply with these requirements or otherwise contains inappropriate or unacceptable content, as determined in the Contest Provider’s sole discretion, will be disqualified and will not be considered for advancement in the contest.
4. DEADLINES: The contest deadlines are as follows:
- Entry Period: Videos may be submitted beginning at 12:00:00 am CST, Wednesday, July 13, 2011, and ends at 11:59:00 pm CST, Friday, September 23, 2011.
- Voting Period: Facebook voting takes place starting at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday July 5, 2011 and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2011 (see Facebook Voting below).
- Judging and Winner Selection will take place on or before October 7, 2011.
Mail-in entries must be postmarked by the Entry Period deadline. No submissions will be accepted after the deadline for any reason. The sole determinant of time for the purposes of the on-line Contest will be Pocketstop server machine(s) located in the Central Standard Time (CST) zone. Contestants entering close to the posted deadline do so with this information in mind.
No responsibility is assumed by WFAA-TV, , Belo Corp., Trinity River Environmental Education Society, Facebook, their respective subsidiaries, parents, partners, or other contest sponsors for lost, late, misdirected, or illegible entries or for any computer, online, telephone or technical malfunctions that may occur. All entries become the property of Contest Providers and will not be returned to the Contestant. All e-mail entries must be submitted from a valid e-mail account that may be identified with a natural person by appropriate independent means, including, without limitation, reverse domain name search.
5. ODDS OF WINNING: Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
6. PRIZES:

Winner will be announced in October and will be awarded a cash prize of $1500
Winning video may be showcased on WFAA 8.1, 8.2 and/or 8.3
Winning video may be screened at 2012 DIFF (Dallas International Film Festival)
Approximate Retail Value (ARV) - $1500
Prizes are non-transferable; substitutions may not be requested. By participating in the contest and accepting a prize, participants and winner will be deemed to have agreed to these Rules. Travel is not included unless specifically stated. Winner is responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local income and any other taxes, fees and surcharges. An IRS Form 1099 will be issued for all prizes with a retail value in excess of $600. Contest Providers reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
7. WINNER SELECTION: Winner selection will occur as described below in two phases:
Facebook Votes: The video entries will be posted online at facebook.com/wfaaprojestgreen for voting. Viewers must ”like” the WFAA Project Green Facebook page prior to voting. Viewer voting will take place on facebook.com/wfaaprojectgreen starting at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 and end at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2011. Viewers will be able to visit the Facebook page to vote and comment on their favorite videos. Votes from viewers will account for 25% of the overall score in the final judging for a winner.
Winner selection: Winner selection will take place at WFAA, 606 Young Street, Dallas, Texas on or about October 7, 2011. A panel of judges will judge the video entries that were submitted and score the entries based on the following four (4) criteria: (A) Factual Accuracy and Solution (25%); (B) Creativity (25%); (C) Production Value (25%) (D) Facebook Votes (25%). The entry with the highest score will be declared the Winner, subject to verification of compliance with these Official Rules and execution of a Winner’s Affidavit. In the event of a tie, the tied entries will be evaluated solely on the criteria described in 7(A). If the tie is still not broken, then the tied entries will be evaluated solely on the criteria described in 7(B) and, if the tie is still not broken, then the tied entries will be evaluated solely on the criteria described in 7(C). Decisions of the judges are final and non-appealable.
The Winner will be notified within one (1) week after the completion of the contest.You will be contacted by phone or email based on the contact information provided at the time of entry. If valid contact information is not provided, an alternate will be selected. Once notified, the winner must respond within one business week, or the entry with the next highest score will be declared the winner. In order to be named the winner, potential winners will be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Prize Acceptance Form/Release of liability upon accepting a prize. Noncompliance will result in disqualification and an alternate winner will be selected.
USE OF VIDEOS AND CONTEST INFORMATION: You retain all of your ownership rights in your Video. However, by submitting a Video to us or to or through the Site, you grant to us, and to our sublicensees, an unrestricted, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable, non-exclusive, perpetual, and irrevocable right and license, without the requirement of any permission from or payment (or other consideration) to you or to any other person or entity, to use, re-use, reproduce, transmit, print, publish, modify, edit, alter, create derivative works based upon, display, exhibit, publicly perform, distribute, re-distribute, host, store, cache, archive, index, categorize, comment on, broadcast, stream, adapt, and translate the Video and any ideas, concepts, know-how or techniques contained in or conveyed by the Video, in whole or in part, in any and all formats and channels now known or hereafter developed (including, without limitation, on other Belo Web sites, on third party Web sites, on our broadcast and cable networks and stations, and on our broadband and wireless platforms, products and services) for any and all purposes including, without limitation, news, advertising, promotional, marketing, publicity, trade or commercial purposes, all without further notice to you and with or without attribution services. Notwithstanding any contrary provision in any of Contest Providers' respective privacy policies, Contestants grant to Contest Providers, and Contest Providers reserve, the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information provided by Contestants in connection with the Contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law. Contestants may be required to sign a release, which grants to Contest Providers the right to use and publish their proper name and state of residence online or in any other media in connection with the Contest. By accepting a prize, winner(s) may be required to sign a release that grants permission to Contest Providers to use his or her name, photograph, likeness, voice, prize information and/or biographical information for publicity and promotional purposes without future compensation unless prohibited by law. By entering, participants release and hold harmless Contest Providers, Facebook, their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damages of any kind arising from or in connection with the Contest or any prize won. Restrictions, conditions and limitations apply.
CONDUCT: By entering the Contest, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules. The Official Rules will be posted at wfaa.com/projectgreen and at facebook.com/wfaaprojectgreen throughout the Contest. Contestants further agree to be bound by the decisions of the Contest Providers, which shall be final and binding in all respects. Contest Providers reserve the right at their sole discretion to disqualify any individual they find to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Website; or to be acting in violation of the Official Rules.
You agree that in your participation in the Contest you will not use obscene, libelous or slanderous language, or language that infringes upon a third party's trademark, trade name or other intellectual property right or right of privacy. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless WFAA-TV, , Belo Corp., Trinity River Environmental Education Society, Facebook, their respective subsidiaries, parents, partners, or other contest sponsors, officers, consultants, agents, and employees against and from all claims, damages liabilities, costs and expenses asserted by third parties alleging that the Contest includes obscenity, libel, slander, or infringes upon the third party's intellectual property or privacy rights, as a direct result of your actions in connection with the Contest. You further agree to not knowingly damage or cause interruption of the Contest or to prevent others' participation in the Contest.
CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY A CONTESTANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE FACEBOOK OR A BELO WEB SITE OR TO UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS, AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, CONTEST PROVIDERS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH CONTESTANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: Winners assume liability for losses or injuries caused or claimed to be caused by participating in the Contest, or by the acceptance, possession, use of, or failure to receive any prize. Contest Providers are not responsible: (i) for any lost, late, illegible, incomplete, postage-due, misdirected or mutilated mail; or (ii) for any incorrect or inaccurate information, in the Contest or by any technical or human error that may occur in the processing of submissions in the Contest. Contest Providers assume no responsibility for an error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction of authorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Contest Providers are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of e-mail or players on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site or combination thereof, including injury or damage to participants or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials in the Contest. If the Contest is not capable of running as planned for any reason, including legal restrictions, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Contest Providers that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, Contest Providers reserve the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest.
RULES / WINNERS LIST: Official Rules and the name of the winner may be obtained by sending a self-addressed, stamped #10 envelope to: Trinity River Video Contest, WFAA-TV, 606 Young Street, Dallas, Texas 75202. Indicate “Trinity River Video Contest Rules Request" or “Tirnity River Video Contest Winners List" on the outside of the envelope as applicable. Limit one (1) request per envelope. The request must include the name of the contest. Winners List will be available 5 days after the winners are confirmed. GENERAL CONDITIONS: This Contest is subject to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.
