ARLINGTON — It's massive. It's state-of-the-art. And it's the home of the world's largest high definition TV screens suspended above the playing field.

One thing you haven't seen hanging inside the billion dollar dome at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington is an American flag, something that became a hot topic earlier this month during a high school playoff game. When the bands played the Star Spangled Banner, there was no flag.

That, however, could change as soon as Thursday's Thanksgiving Day game, according to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

On Wednesday morning, Jones told News 8 that the team prefers to use the stadium's huge video display to generate a digital flag.

"Certainly we recognize the need to show our flag," he said. "We have such great digital equipment here and we do it on our ribbon board — I'm talking about our flag — we do it on our giant home screen and, of course, at every game we do the color guard."

Jones said he understands some fans' frustration over a lack of a physical flag on display, and left the door open that eventually the arena may have a flag permanently displayed.

"We'll get this right," Jones said. "We had our flags at location there at Texas Stadium, and we can certainly have that done here."

But, Jones announced early Wednesday evening that that day could be coming a lot sooner than someday.

Jones also addressed the issue of Arlington fire officials voicing concerns about the Cowboys' controversial "Party Passes" at the stadium two weeks before the team's season opener.

E-mail messages obtained by The Dallas Morning News reveal the Cowboys surprised fire officials with the new tickets.

Security details nearly lost control of the crowd when there wasn't enough room on the end zone decks for the 30,000 extra fans.

"This is not an issue with us," Jones said. "We may not have that many in the future, but we can certainly have a significant amount, 20,000 up."

Jones said he and the City of Arlington had many visits and addressed the issues back when the Cowboys had their home opener against the Giants.

As for the flag — Cowboys said they now do have a flag, they're just unsure if they will be able to get it up by Thursday's game.
