MESQUITE - An air conditioner stolen, again.

"Someone stole both of our A/C units, please pray for them," reads the marquee at the Cornerstone Church.

It's round two for the Mesquite church.

Deacon Robert Harding said he forgives the thieves, which is what faith is all about. In fact, he has even welcomed them in his church.

“We pray for the people who stole the A/C," he said. "The Bible says we need to forgive, and sometimes that is the hardest thing to do, especially when you're a victim."

The first unit was stolen June 15, with the second one stolen within a 48-hour period between Thursday and Friday.

Harding said they put a cage around the second unit to protect it, but even that didn't work.

“We thought that would deter them," he said. "But, for the determined thief, they're going to take what they want.”

The deductible is $1,000, which is money the small church can't afford. So, for Sunday service, they're scrambling to find a plan "B."

“We're going to be hot," Harding said. "We're probably going to have our services in our Fellowship Hall. We'll probably get window units until we can figure out what to do with the insurance companies.”
