Bus fire
A charter bus caught fire Thursday morning on the side of the service road of southbound Highway 75 near County Line Road 442 at the border of Collin and Grayson counties.
The bus was carrying 30 students from Austin College in Sherman. The students are female and male players on the college's basketball teams and were headed to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to catch a flight to Colorado for a game.
The fire appeared to start at the back of the bus, where the engine is located. The students were able to get off safely.
While an ambulance was at the scene, it appeared to be a precautionary measure.
All the students except one boarded another charter bus at the scene to continue their trip to the airport. One athlete remained behind as a precautionary measure after ingesting smoky air, according to a statement from Austin College.
"A complete review of the bus and situation will be conducted," the statement added.
