FRISCO — Students in Frisco put on their thinking caps to help the environment.
Engineering students at the Career & Technical Education Center were given an assignment to create chairs made out of cardboard.
On Monday, they invited people to take a seat and test out the environmentally-friendly furniture.
So what was the biggest design influence for these students?
"Our main priority was to hold a lot of weight, so we chose an old-fashioned design," explained senior Julio Quintros.
One chair that weighed just nine pounds was tested to hold up to 250 pounds.
Senior Ronald Linares tried out one of the cardboard chairs and had a positive impression. "It's actually very comfortable," he said. "I think of the design like a throne sort of thing."
Most of the sudents went to local stores asking for boxes they could then use to construct their cardboard chairs.
