DALLAS — Stage 1 water restrictions begin Monday in Dallas.
The city has been able to avoid usage limits until now thanks to good planning, but the ongoing drought has finally caught up.
Here's what you need to know if you live in Dallas:
- You can only water your lawn twice a week.
- Watering is based on the last number of an address; even numbers can water on Sunday and Thursday; odd numbers on Saturdays and Wednesdays.
Code compliance officers are asking residents to call 311 to report violators, who will get a warning the first time.
A second violation leads to a fine ranging from $250 to $2,000.
Residents of other area cities that get their water from the North Texas Municipal Water District are already facing much more stringent Stage 3 restrictions.
