Staying Hydrated and avoiding heat related illness:
You want to pay attention to your or your kids overall body temperature to prevent it from working overtime. It’s really not that hard, it just takes a little forethought before you head out the door to do whatever you have lined-up.
Keeping COOL Tips -
1. Ice / Ice in a bag
The best way to stay cool is using ice. Get yourself a small cooler that can easily be carried (something size of lunch box) and keep ice available and use a sandwich bag or panty hose.
2. Iced wet towel or rag
Keep a wet sport towel or rag in the cooler. You want it to be wet so it cools down the rag and use it to wipe the back of the neck, forehead and under each arm. This will help cool-down the body’s temp.
3. Sunscreen
Wear sunscreen. This helps to protect the skin, keeps it cool and actually can contribute to keeping your body temp from getting to high.
4. Cool Water
There are all kinds of products now available that help keep water cool. The key is “cool”. You want to try and not only drink water regularly… but drink cool water. Your body will absorb the cool water more quickly and it will contribute to cooling the bodies overall temperature.
