A once-in-a-lifetime experience, the TX Tough 250 is a new event introduced by 250 of Dallas’s most influential business people, political leaders and philanthropists, all of whom have committed to ride from Austin to Dallas and collectively raise $1 million dollars for Children’s Medical Center. During the 2-day ride, the participants will have the opportunity to ride - wheel to wheel - with some of cycling’s legends, like 9-time Tour de France finisher, Frankie Andreu. The TX Tough 250 will take place May 7th – 8th, 2011
About Passion for Children's (PFC):
PFC, a 501c(3) non-profit organization, was founded in 2007 for the sole purpose of developing,
implementing, and managing specific grassroots fundraising programs for the exclusive benefit
of Children's Medical Center (CMC). A model of fundraising efficiency, PFC gives 100% of all
funds raised by participants and received by PFC directly to CMC. PFC is currently the only
fundraising vehicle available for individuals to raise money for CMC with the option to earmark
those dollars for a specific CMC program, clinic or service. In 2010, participants collectively
received donations from individuals in 49 states and 11 countries, and their total contribution
represented one of the largest cash gifts to CMC (2010).
The Ride - "TX Tough 250 Austin to Dallas" (the 250):
A once-in-a-lifetime experience, the 250 is a new fundraising program introduced by 250 of
Dallas’s most influential citizens, each of whom have committed to ride from Austin to Dallas
and collectively raise $1 million dollars for CMC. Participants will have the opportunity to ride
wheel to wheel with some of cycling’s legends during the 2-day ride.
The 250 will become an annual bike-a-thon open to a wide range of participants: cycling
enthusiasts, weekend warriors, trained triathletes or individuals who want to ride in honor of a
family member or friend treated at CMC. In 2011, the ride is limited to the 250 members of the
Ambassador Club, but will be open to the general public in 2012.
The Ambassador Club Ride is comprised of 250 men and women who have
committed to raise $1 million dollars in 2011, the inaugural year. They will meet in
Dallas, be transported to Austin, and then begin the two-day journey back, starting in
Walberg, TX. The riders will be broken in ride groups led by professional cyclists,
including nine-time Tour de France finisher, Frankie Andreu.
Coming in 2012, The Full Ride is similar to the Ambassador Club Ride. Riders,
however, will provide their own transportation to Austin, and coordinate their own room
and board arrangements. Riders will be broken into ride groups based on pace time, and
led out by the Ambassador Club.
Coming in 2012, the Day 2 Ride will allow individuals to ride from Waco to Cedar Hill
State Park with the Ambassador Club. Riders will provide their own transportation to
Waco, or can take a shuttle to Waco from Cedar Hill.
