BACK TO SCHOOL ORGANIZATION TIPS
Tips for getting out the door quickly are as follows:
For younger kids that can dress themselves, pre-match outfits. Instead of hanging all the shirts together and all the pants together in a closet, assemble outfits when putting away the clean laundry. This task can be done by you or by your child. It simplifies the decision making process on school mornings, particularly for girls.
If you have problems with your kids leaving their shoes all over the house, consider having a shoe organizer. Whether you use an organizer with pockets, drawers, or shelves, place it right where you enter and exit your home. Keep everyday shoes in this area so you are not constantly searching for lost shoes when heading out the door.
If you or your children frequently forget items once you’ve left home, try placing a door hanger on the doorknob of the door you exit. Door hangers are similar to hotel door signs that say, “Do Not Disturb.” The door hangers for personal use come in wipe off or sticky notes. You could get a basic door hanger or you can find really neat door hangers to match the décor of your home by searching the Internet. Use the door hanger to make notes about unusual items you might forget or for everyday items or tasks. For example, “Don’t forget cupcakes.” or “Feed the fish.” By doing this, it will jog your memory as you’re reaching for the doorknob.
