DEBORAH NORVILLE/ THE POWER OF RESPECT
Can “respect” really make a difference in today’s fast-paced world? Or is “respect” a quaint throw back to a less complicated time? Seventy-nine percent of Americans believe that a lack of respect is a serious problem today. In her groundbreaking new book, The Power of Respect, best-selling author and journalist Deborah Norville shares the compelling evidence that adding an element of respect results in measurable, meaningful benefits in almost every area of life. Relying on peer-reviewed academic literature, Norville makes the case that “respect” has the power to mend broken relationships, enhance self-esteem and increase productivity and creativity in business. When respect programs are brought to schools, discipline problems go down, test scores go up, and teachers no longer leave the profession. Workers who feel respected are 300% less likely to quit their jobs, saving their employers thousands of dollars in wrongful termination lawsuits.
In The Power of Respect: Benefit from the Most Forgotten Element of Success Deborah Norville looks at today’s headlines and shows how the Power of Respect yields benefits in parenting, marriage, education, business, and leadership.

“Top Dog….is Top Notch! David Woo has managed to capture the essence of happiness with this project. All of the subjects are beaming with pride…..their exuberance evident in every frame. The owner’s love for their pets oozes off of every page. Portraits are one of photography’s most difficult genres. It is essential for the photographer to capture the personality of their subjects for them to be memorable. This collection of work is truly memorable. Bravo!”

Portions of the proceeds from Top Dogs and Their Pets will go directly to the Cesar & Ilusion Millan Foundation, which offers financial support and rehabilitation expertise to pet shelters and rescue organizations throughout the United States. The Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation is a national, non-profit organization founded by Cesar Millan, star of the television series "Dog Whisperer," and his wife, Ilusion Millan. The foundation provides funding throughout the United States for pet shelter and rescue groups, free or low-cost spay and neuter services where needed, and educational programs for children keyed on pet awareness. The foundation also distributes the Spay & Neuter is Nothing to “Whisper” About public service
campaign that highlights the importance of preventing unwanted pets.
“After watching Cesar Millan’s show and reading his books, I knew that his foundation would be the best beneficiary of this book,” says Woo. “I wanted to take the love people emanate for their pets in this book, and use it to help animals across the country.”
The “Top Dogs” highlighted in the book include Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Alfred Gillman, actor Owen Wilson, Texas Rangers’ President Nolan Ryan, television personality, Dr. Phil, US Airways pilot Sully Sullenberger, retired Dallas Cowboys head coach, Jimmy Johnson, former Secretary of State, James Baker, and two Past United States Presidents to name a few. In addition to the photographs, the book includes a heartwarming Q&A with each subject in which each “Top Dog” shares anecdotes about their relationships with their pets -- and what makes each pet so special. The preface of the book is written by Pulitzer Prize finalist author Doug Swanson, and the forward is written by unabashed animal lover Diane Rehm, host of the popular radio program “The Diane Rehm Show” on NPR.
Inspired by his own Bassett Hound named Chester, Woo contacted Pruitt, who he had previously collaborated with on their first book, Texas Women, and proposed to create a book that would depict people from different walks of life, all leaders in their profession, who share a common love for their pets.
