ACTRESS PAM GRIER/ NATIONAL MULTICULTURAL WESTERN HERITAGE MUSEUM
National Multicultural Western Heritage Museum (NMWHM) will present the National Day of the American Cowboy Celebration in Fort Worth, Texas with a series of events! Where else but Fort Worth will you find the perfect place to explore and experience the true cowboy way. Actress, author and philanthropist Pam Grier returns as the honorary host for a weekend of festivities, July 26-29. Across this great nation Americans are making plans to celebrate the National Day of the American Cowboy.
The National day of the American Cowboy Celebration events include a Grand Prairie Air Hogs Baseball Game, Buffalo Soldier/Boy Scout Encampment, Unsung Heroes Awards, Summertime Blues Concert, Fort Worth Stockyards Parade, Family Fun Festival, Zydeco Music Festival and Hall of Fame Rodeo.
The National Day of the American Cowboy Celebration has something for everyone! Take a stroll through the Pam Grier Community Garden; enjoy the family fun, face-painting, classic Creole cuisine. Bring the kiddos ‘cause we have plenty for them to do. There will be cowboy dress up, stick horse races, story tellers, cowboy singers, trick ropers, and some of the prettiest saloon gals you have ever seen, music and well the list just goes on. After the day’s festivities, you can mosey on up to the future site of the Museum for the Zydeco Festival and dance the night away to the sounds of Leon Chavis and the Zydeco Flames, Dog Hill Stompers, Step Rideau and the Zydeco Outlaws, and Curry Taylor and Zydeco Trouble. The excitement continues with the Hall of Fame Rodeo on Sunday, July 29th at the Cowtown Coliseum.
The announcement was made today by Jim Austin, Co-Founder of the NMWHM. "We are so honored and thrilled to work with Ms. Grier. Her love and passion for the cultural heritage of the American Cowboy and the way of life that built this country truly speaks to the mission of the museum." says museum Co-Founder Jim Austin. Ticketed events will benefit the educational programs, exhibits and outdoor learning center at the National Multicultural Western Heritage Museum in Fort Worth, Texas.
The National Day of the American Cowboy campaign was founded by American Cowboy Magazine in 2004 to preserve, protect and promote our cowboy and Western heritage and lobby for the passage of a national resolution designating the fourth Saturday of every July a permanent celebration on the national calendar honoring cowboys and cowgirls for their enduring contribution to the courageous, pioneering spirit of America. This year’s celebration is Saturday, July 28th.
