Locking your phone and changing your passwords are just some of the tips you’ve probably heard to protect yourself from identity thieves. There are a few more that every computer user should know.

Hackers are always busy trying to find a way into your life for all the wrong reasons. We know the general ways of blocking those pesky people.
Keith Squires, a professional security adviser who works to secure corporations around the country says you can protect yourself from hackers.

He offers the following tips:

#1- PHISHING- Your first tip is watch out for phishing emails and know what they look like.

#2 - UPDATE SOFTWARE - Keep computer software and anti-virus software updated.

#3 - PASSWORD - Use strong passwords.

#4 – SMARTPHONE  FUNCTIONS - Don't perform every function on your smartphone.

#5- ROUTER SECURITY - Make sure you have a passcode to get into your home wireless router has a password.

#6 - FREE WI-FI - Use care when using free wi-fi offered in public places.
