FRISCO - Team Texas is a competitive youth climbing team located in the North Texas area. Members are as young as seven-years-old.

Stan Borodyansky is the speed coach for Team Texas. He has coached not only for the U.S. youth national team, but is widely regarded as the finest speed coach in the country. Athletes under his coaching have become national, continental and even world champions.

John Brosler, 16, set a new U.S. national record for speed climbing on the 10 meter wall and won the gold medal at the Youth National Competition for Indoor Rock Climbing that was held in Atlanta, GA earlier this month. He won the gold medal for speed climbing and made the U.S. national team. Brosler spends about 12 hours a week training for competitions.

Dillion Moody, also went to the Youth National Competition and placed fourth. Moody has been climbing half his life, with eight years of experience. He says it all started at a birthday party. One climb up and he was hooked.  He trains at four different gyms, taking to the wall four to five times a week to get faster and faster. He is also a part of the U.S. team and is heading to the World Youth Championship.

Members of Team Texas are heading to the World Youth Championships in Victoria, British Columbia in August. North Texas members make up 30 percent of the climbers on the United States’ team.
