Samsung is calling it a new mobile experience with the release of their first wearable watch and the Galaxy Note 3 phone. Galaxy Gear is a  smartphone on a watchband.

With Galaxy Gear, you can take calls, send texts, take photos and perform various other tasks without ever touching a phone.

Samsung says the Gear offers the following features:

Smart Relay - Quick Glance Notifications alert you of incoming calls, messages, and more on the Galaxy Gear. When the Note 3 is picked up, it will intuitively open the appropriate application to save time.
Smart Lock - You can automatically unlock or lock Galaxy Note 3 with Galaxy Gear. As soon as you walk outside of a 5-foot radius of your Note 3, Galaxy Gear will automatically lock the smartphone.
Find My Device - If you misplace your Note 3, users can use Gear to remotely activate the Note 3’s ring tone and light up its screen until you find the phone. Similarly, if the Gear is misplaced, the same feature from Note 3 can be used to locate it.
S Voice - S Voice can be enabled on the Galaxy Gear, so you can tell it to reply a text for you or ask about the weather.

Users can connect and share information with the Galaxy Note 3. It's the third generation device with a large bright screen and the S Pen.

The Galaxy Note 3 is priced at about $300 with provider contract. The Galaxy Gear is priced about the same but no contract is necessary.

Samsung says the Gear will be able to sync with other Samsung phones by the end of the year.
