Dirk on the baseball diamond. The NBA champion and 11-time NBA All-Star is going to bat for kids.

Dirk Nowitzki's 2012 Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game is this Saturday at the Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco at 6 p.m.

The celebrity event will benefits the children's charities of the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation and Heroes Foundation. New this year (the 11th year) the Celebrity Home Run Derby which starts at 5 p.m.

Those scheduled to appear are: Mavericks players, Cowboys players and actors.

The Dirk Nowitzki Foundation provides education, health, well being for kids all around the world," said Nowitzki. "The Hoops foundation provides  life changing experiences for children through sports."
