He's an artist who says he prefers a simple style of painting, but his work is anything but simple.

Patrick Crouch is a local artist who uses vibrant colors, unique shapes in addition to fabrics and raw material as a form of expression.

“Vibrant, lively, I want that “WOW” factor,” said Crouch as he described his work.

On Thursday stopped by GMT"S studio and created a piano player with a rectangle canvas that started with light blue and three white spots. Within 35 minutes it was obvious that it would be exactly as he predicted. Crouch used paint, a glue gun, pieces of clothe, faux fur, buttons and a plastic scraper to make the in-studio painting come together.

Many of Crouch's paintings depict musicians and singers in action.

He said he let intuitions and instinct take over to create a masterpiece.

The Texas A & M graduate received a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree. Before taking up a brush full-time, Crouch worked in the grocery store industry. He finally stepped out on faith and pursued his dream.

Crouch has said in previous interviews that he was an artist at heart, even as a kid. He would make comic books and “pretend to be the next great illustrator”

He admits there were times when he thought his dream of seeing his work in galleries would not happen. He says through faith he continues to do what he loves.

When not painting on canvas sometimes as big as six feet tall, he teaches advanced art at Skyline High School in Dallas Independent School District. During the summer months he shares his talents with student in the Upward Bound program being held at Paul Quinn College in Dallas.
