Current Energy
About Current Energy
Current Energy, headquartered in Dallas, is leading the quest for smart energy-efficient solutions and operates the world's first energy efficiency store™, which opened in November 2006 in the Knox-Henderson area of Dallas.
Company Evolution
The company was founded in 2001 as Power Brokers, anticipating the impact that energy deregulation would have on companies. For the past seven years, Power Brokers has been assisting commercial clients with utility procurement and energy consulting to impact their bottom line.
In 2004, Current Energy formed as Power Brokers' parent company to provide a broader set of energy efficiency offerings to meet the needs of both commercial and residential customers.
Today, Current Energy reaps substantial savings for customers by offering energy efficiency and environmentally friendly solutions. Current Energy takes a comprehensive approach to evaluating living or work spaces and making recommendations to reduce energy consumption. Current Energy educates clients and customers on energy efficiency solutions and empowers individuals to make decisions to take specific action- from switching energy providers to installing new HVAC units or a comprehensive automation and controls solution to changing to compact fluorescent light bulbs - at a level he/she feels comfortable with to save on the utility bill each month.
In November 2006, Current Energy opened the world's first energy efficiency store™ on Knox Street. The store features innovative gadgets for all ages, such as solar-powered chargers for handheld devices and Surefire flashlights. From HVAC installation to plumbing repair work to switching energy providers, Current Energy provides the products and services to help consumers make smart energy efficiency decisions.
National Recognition
In November 2007, Current Energy was recognized as the first Texas company to receive the Energy Innovators Award from the U.S. Department of Energy. Brad Barton, the Department of Energy's director of commercialization and deployment for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, presented a plaque to Current Energy in an awards ceremony at the store.
The Department of Energy created the Energy Innovators Award in 2006 to recognize businesses, individuals and governmental agencies who have successfully developed or deployed energy efficiency and/or renewable energy technologies, services or policies. Since the inception of the awards program, only five individuals/companies have been recognized by the Department of Energy.
