Join us at our Victory Park Studio for WFAA's Open House!
Here's your chance to meet an American hero - A US Navy SEAL.
Thursday night, May 3, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. WFAA will have an "open house" at the station's Victory Park facility.
A group of decorated United States Navy SEALs will be on hand to meet viewers prior to the Dallas Mavericks-Oklahoma City Thunder NBA playoff game at the American Airlines Center, which is located adjacent to WFAA's Victory Park television studio. The meet and greet opportunity is part of WFAA's commitment to a unique community project called "Carry The Load" (http://carrytheload.org/dallas). The 20-hour Memorial Day event honors members of the military, law enforcement, firefighters and their families.
U.S. Navy SEALs are the principal special operations force and part of the Naval Special Warfare Command. The acronym SEAL is derived from the elite unit's capacity to operate at sea, in the air and on land. They have been an integral part of the most successful operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, including the 2011 operation to terminate al-Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden.
While meeting the Navy SEALs, WFAA viewers will have an opportunity to learn more about "Carry The Load," and register to participate. The annual event raises money through participants and sponsorships for existing nonprofit organizations that help active duty service members and their families. Participants walk or run as long or as little as they can in tribute to the service members they honor. Some will choose to bring weighted packs as a symbol of their commitment, and "carry more than they have to, longer than they think they can."
Bring your family, friends and cameras. Meet some of the United States Military's finest.
