MESQUITE - You've heard of rap, and you've heard of rodeos. Saturday night, the two come together in a unique show called “Hip Hop Cowboy.”

On Friday morning, News 8 met with Craig Jackson, a professional bull rider and rap artist. Jackson (or C-Jack as he is sometimes called) showed off his skills in Mesquite Arena live on Daybreak, lasting well over eight seconds on a bull.

Jackson and organizers of the event say the idea came from mixing different influences in their lives. The main goal, as they explained to News 8, is to blend the urban rap/hip-hop style with cowboy culture to appeal to a broad range of fans.

Hip Hop Cowboy starts Saturday at 7 p.m. in Mesquite Arena. Gates open at 6:30.
