Each Saturday leading up to Thanksgiving on News 8 Daybreak Saturday, Amy Kushnir of My Texas Today is sharing a Thanksgiving recipe. She starts with dessert: Chocolate Walnut Pie.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 ready to use refrigerated pie crust
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped
- 1/2 stick salted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 3/4 cup Karo syrup (light or dark)
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
DIRECTIONS
- Heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Place pie crust into pie dish.
- Mix remaining ingredients and pour into pie crust.
- Bake in lower level of oven for 35 - 45 min.
- Let cool completely
TO DECORATE
- Use remaining pie crust dough to cut out shapes.
- Brush each side of cutout with whisked egg.
- Place in center of pie or along crust.
- Sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake.
