Dallas Zoo to be featured in 10-hour Animal Planet Facebook Live marathon

'Animal Planet' live event features Dallas Zoo

DALLAS -- Have you ever wondered what it takes to care for zoo animals behind the scenes? On Thursday you can get up-close access, without ever leaving your office or couch.

Animal Planet is holding a 10-hour marathon Facebook Live event Thursday called “Inside the Zoo,” featuring 18 of the best zoos and aquariums around the country.

This includes the Dallas Zoo, where the giraffe exhibit was featured from 10:30-10:45 a.m. Popular dog and cheetah duo Winspear and Amani will be featured from 3:15-3:30 p.m.

Thousands of people are able to watch, ask questions, and get answers in real time during the stream.

The Association of Zoos and Aquariums hopes seeing the work at zoos across the country will show people why their mission of animal conservation is so important.

"Every day, the animal care professionals at AZA-accredited aquariums and zoos deliver expert care to the animals at their facilities. They also contribute tremendously to species conservation efforts, both locally and around the globe," said Dan Ashe, President and CEO of the AZA.

“Inside the Zoo” will stream live on Facebook until 6 p.m. CST Thursday. You can watch
