Eric Hill, one of the contestants who woos Bachelorette Andi Dorfman in the upcoming season of the ABC dating show, has died. He was 31, reports People.
Us Weekly is reporting that the Brigham Young grad was in a paragliding accident in Utah on Sunday. Apparently his parachute collapsed. Buzzfeed explained Tuesday night who he is and why he was trending, sadly, on the Web.
Today, Hill's sister, Karen Tracy, wrote on Facebook that he had died.
"Eric shared his final journey with us this morning as all his immediate family were able to be at his side when he passed away. Thank you to all of your love and support and prayers and fasting," Karen Tracey wrote. "It was amazing to be with so many of his friends and family yesterday in the hospital who came to express their love for Eric."
ABC has not commented on the death and what it will mean for the show, which kicks off Season 14 on May 19 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT. Us says he had already been eliminated by Dorfman.
Before joining The Bachelorette, Hill had been on a quest to visit every United Nations-recognized country in the world in just 1,200 days. He had been documenting his journey on his website, GO With Eric: The Global Odyssey, and had visited more than 50 countries.
