AUSTIN — The Austin Police Department arrested rap artist Tyler Gregory Okonma — better known by his stage name, "Tyler, the Creator" — on Saturday after allegedly inciting a riot at the South by Southwest festival on Thursday.
Investigators said the Scoot Inn was already at capacity when he is seen in a video encouraging a large crowd on more than one occasion to force themselves inside.
One doorman was punched as hundreds of people entered. Okonma then ran off the stage.
The charge facing the 23-year-old artist is a Class A misdemeanor. Bond was set at $3,500.
Tyler, the Creator was scheduled to perform at the House of Blues in Dallas on Saturday night.
Okonma's work includes the songs "Yonkers," "VCR" and "Tamale/Answer."
