DALLAS — Fire broke out above the stage at Rihanna's Loud Tour at the American Airlines Center on Friday night.
Dallas Fire-Rescue investigators said the small fire was caused when embers from a pyrotechnic display came in contact with a chair and ignited it at around 10:45 p.m.
Video posted on YouTube shows flames apparently coming from a lighting grid, with smoke enveloping the area. A worker is then seen using an extinguisher to put out the fire.
Rihanna "ran off the stage," according to Elizabeth Teller, who attended the event.
No one was injured, but the concert — which was nearly complete — was canceled. Video of what happened next showed that many in the audience weren't sure what to do next..
"DALLAS!!! We set the stage on FYAH tonight!!! LITERALLY!!!" said Rihanna in a tweet posted after the incident. "I'm so p****d, I was havin so much fun wit yall too!!! I gotta come back man!!"
The R&B recording artist added that she was glad that her fans were safe, and that she was attending a production meeting to determine what went wrong.
The fire department issued no citations in connection with the incident, but some fans are wondering if they can get a refund. They said Rihanna's performance started late, and then ended sooner than expected.
Rihanna was scheduled to perform in Houston on Saturday night.
