BAYLOR'S MISSION. As a not-for-profit health care organization, Baylor Health Care has been supported by the community to help build its network of services since the original 25-bed hospital opened in 1903. Baylor's mission includes providing medical education not only to doctors and nurses, but also to a wide variety of clinical and non-clinical professionals--who help to make Baylor the successful and caring network of hospitals and medical facilities that it has become. And an equally important part of Baylor's mission is medical research, which rapidly brings the benefits of discoveries to patient care. COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS. While Baylor works to accomplish the quality of medical care we have become known for around the world, we also work hard to make a difference in the communities in which we live and work. That is why we are involved with Church Health Ministries. It combines the resources of Baylor, local churches, and other groups to improve health in the East Dallas community. The effort supports neighborhood clinics which address not only medical needs, but social issues such as crime and education. For nearly 100 years, Baylor has been a community leader and neighbor not because we have to, but simply because it has been the right thing to do.
