ARLINGTON - Bowling, race car driving and even singing, WFAA's Cynthia Izaguirre and Wednesday's Child Deandre had a blast at Alley Cats in Arlington.

Strap on the shoes,  pick your ball and it's on. When 16-year-old Deandre was asked what his favorite part of the adventure was, he doesn't hesitate to answer.

“Getting strikes,” said the young man with a bright smile.

Deandre loves to stay active. Whether it's race car driving, playing a mini-game of basketball or singing a song, the teen is incredibly sweet, respectful and easy to get along with. He’s also very close with his brother and would like to keep in contact with him.

“My favorite thing to do with my brother is play basketball and football with him," he said.

Deandre also enjoys summer camp and all the activities that come with it.

“We play games, go swimming, eat marshmallows and s'mores," he said.

It's a good thing he's active because like most teens, the growing young man enjoys
foods with a high fat content.

“I like pizza, hamburgers, fries and tacos," he said.

Deandre has been diagnosed with a mild form of autism and receives special assistance in school to help him concentrate, comprehend the material and express himself.

“I like school because it's education," he said. "My favorite subject is math."

Deandre wants his adoptive family to know that he is fun, but quiet with people he doesn't know. He says he tries his best to listen and behave.

“I pray that I'm a good kid and a good man," said the teen.

Deandre needs a family that will be patient and reassuring as he adjusts to a new environment. As you'll find out very quickly, his sweet spirit will fill you with joy.
