ARLINGTON - Carla, 8, couldn't contain her excitement at Build a Bear in Arlington.

Carla is a sweet and loving child who needs a patient family with a lot of one-on-one time to give her.

She told workers she didn't know how to make a wish, and certainly not a bear. Build a Bear workers told her. "No problem, we'll teach you."

Carla thrives with one-on-one attention. She is in a self contained classroom at school that focuses on positive behavior management that teaches her to concentrate and focus.

"I do reading and I do everything," said the precious child with a big smile.

Carla is very loving and wants to please people. She's also quite the jokester. She asked the Child Protective Services worker, "Why did the crocodile cross the street?" She followed up with, "He crossed the street and then fell on a banana peel."

Her laugh is infectious, as is her spirit. Carla also enjoys music, dancing and singing.

"I love Selena Gomez, Hannah Montana, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift," she said.

Carla has been diagnosed with a rare brain malfunction that makes it difficult for her to remember boundaries. She needs consistent structure and appropriate teaching balanced with nurturing and encouragement.

"I like to play with Teddy Bears just like her; her name is Rosie," Carla said as she hugged her new toy.

Carla understands adoption.

"Adoption means that you want your family," she said.  "Carla wants a mommy and daddy."

The vibrant young lady needs a forever family who will let her keep in contact with her brother and sister, a family that will never give up on her.
