Fatal accident
KAUFMAN COUNTY — An investigation is under way into a deadly wreck in Kaufman County, near Highway 34 and Kings Creek.
Deanna Eddy, 47, was driving a white 1997 Nissan Maxima southbound on Highway 34 from Kaufman to Scurry Wednesday morning around 10:15 a.m.
A Department of Public Safety spokesman said when Eddy tried to pass a pickup truck, she struck that vehicle twice and then hit a Ford Taurus in front of the pickup before striking a guardrail.
The Maxima rolled several times, Eddy was ejected from the vehicle and was killed.
The driver of the Taurus suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital in Kaufman for treatment, officials said. The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.
