WFAA is partnering with North Texas schools to promote Rachel's Challenge.

Rachel Scott was the first person killed in the Columbine High School massacre in Colorado. It was her dream to start a "chain reaction" where students get involved in helping others.

Dr. Gene Burton from Rachel's Challenge tells us about some of the upcoming events in the area:

  • October 5 (10:00 a.m. to Noon, RSVP: pete@rachelschallenge.org): Darrell Scott, Rachel's father, will speak to school superintendents from throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area in an event at Rangers Ballpark (Hall of Fame Room) in Arlington in an effort to get more districts involved.

  • October 6 (10:50 a.m.  to 11:50 a.m. with lunch following, RSVP: jourdan@rachelschallenge.org): Craig Scott, Rachel's brother, will speak to principals, counselors, PTA members and others from the Arlington school district. The location is Arlington Martin HS.
