DALLAS — More than a thousand firefighters, police officers and paramedics geared up on Saturday to run straight up.
This year, many of the top brass in the Dallas Police Department took part in the event, including Chief David Brown climbing the 1,040 steps for the first time.
"They promised donuts to get me here, and I walked four flights and then I only had a banana and an orange," the chief jokingly griped.
Fifteen other chiefs within DPD participated.
The Big D Climb has raised more than $600,000 since 2008.
