Cecilia Gaona came to Dallas Can Academy Ross Avenue in January 2012 from John P. Hood Middle School. She was promoted to the ninth grade by the Grade Level Placement Committee. Her goal was to graduate with her cohort and attend college. She showed great determination in pursuing a job at McDonald’s where she is currently employed. She works from 5:00 AM to 11:00 AM and attends the PM session. She has excellent attendance and is always on time to school. She met Level II Satisfactory Academic Performance in all STAAR/EOC content subjects 2011-2012 school year.
With just two weeks into the new school year, Cecilia shows great potential for college readiness. Her core teachers had wonderful things to say about Cecilia.
Mr. Lyons, her social studies teacher states, “Cecilia is a wonderful student. She is intelligent, polite, helpful, and respectful. She comes to class with a great attitude and ready to learn everyday. It is a pleasure to have her at Dallas Can.”
Ms. Fields, her English teacher states, “Cecilia Gaona is such a magnificent student. She always strives to do her very best and always has such a positive attitude. I truly enjoy having her in my class.”
Mrs. Osmanlliu, her math teacher states, “Cecilia is a delightful student in my class. It has been my pleasure to be her teacher because her attitude towards learning is exemplary. Cecilia not only participates in class but, she helps her peers. She is a great example as she shows positive attitude and optimism. I am very proud to be her teacher.”
Mrs. Brice, her science teacher states, “I have never seen a student so determined to succeed academically. She is dedicated and invested in everything she touches. She is a true leader and motivator among her peers.”
Ms. Craig, her advisor, states, “I wish I had 100 more like her.’
Dallas Can Academy is truly impressed with Cecilia Gaona’s academic achievement and commitment to success. We are very proud to have her as the September student of the month.
