DALLAS — Carry the Load raised just over $2 million this year.

On Saturday, the organization gave that money back to groups that help service members, police, firefighters, and their families during a formal presentation at the Heart of Dallas Classic football game at  the Cotton Bowl.

"The story is in the numbers," said Carry the Load co-founder Clint Bruce. "The first year we did this we had 500 people. In the third year, we had more than 20,000."

A portion of the ticket sales for the Heart of Dallas Classic contest between Louisiana Tech and Army went to benefit Dallas-area military non-profit organizations.

WFAA is proud to have teamed up with Carry the Load for this year's Memorial Day event. Click here to learn more about the charity and check out our coverage of the march.
