DALLAS — Carry the Load raised just over $2 million this year.
On Saturday, the organization gave that money back to groups that help service members, police, firefighters, and their families during a formal presentation at the Heart of Dallas Classic football game at the Cotton Bowl.
"The story is in the numbers," said Carry the Load co-founder Clint Bruce. "The first year we did this we had 500 people. In the third year, we had more than 20,000."
A portion of the ticket sales for the Heart of Dallas Classic contest between Louisiana Tech and Army went to benefit Dallas-area military non-profit organizations.
