The Smith Public Library is seeking an energetic and dynamic individual to join the library team as the Electronic Services Librarian. The Smith Library is expanding to a brand new, 43,900 square foot facility during the second quarter of 2011.

The Electronic Services Librarian maintains the library website, plans, coordinates, and implements computer classes, serves as liaison with representatives of the integrated library system, electronic resource vendors, and the Information Support Department of the City of Wylie, serves as liaison to the community and schools regarding electronic resources, selects electronic resources, creates publicity for electronic resources, and assists patrons in the computer lab and public service desks.


$45,532 per year


Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school

Proven knowledge of software applications and desktop publishing skills (a skills test will be given)

Public Services experience

3 years experience in a public library working with patrons and technology is preferred

Experience with an integrated library system

Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications

Ability to create presentations and publications using Publisher

Physical strength required is low: exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, and requires walking or standing to a significant degree
