CLEBURNE — Residents are stepping up to the plate to help an injured Cleburne police officer.

Aaron Beseda is still recovering three months after he was injured while responding to an emergency.

Fellow officers organized a charity softball game on Saturday. The money raised will help pay his medical bills.

Beseda is now walking on his own, but still requires a neck brace after a car slammed into his vehicle.

"I'm just ready to get back to work start helpping the guys out again, helping the community," Officer Beseda said. "Just ready to get back to it... ready to get back to doing what I love doing."

He still faces a lengthy recovery, but he and his wife have something special to look forward to: The birth of their first child next month.
