DALLAS — One of the most prominent churches in North Texas has named a new leader of the congregation.

St. Luke "Community" United Methodist Church has hired Dr. Henry Masters from Los Angeles to be its new senior pastor.

Dr. Masters replaces Tyrone Gordon, who stepped down in February after allegations of inappropriate behavior. Gordon now leads an unaffiliated church.

Masters, who is a native of Waco, will officially assume the pulpit on July 1.

According to his online biography at Holman United Methodist Church, Masters pastored at St. Paul United Methodist Church in downtown Dallas  between 1995 and 2001.
