IRVING — Three-thousand runners raced through Irving on Sunday to do their part to help wounded veterans.

Some participants in the Wounded Warrior Half-Marathon ran or walked the 10K and one-mile fun run to raise money.

The goal is to honor men and women who fight every day for our freedom by raising funds for those injured during combat.

"It means a lot because number one, our soldiers do so much for our country," one runner said.

Charles River ran the Boston Marathon two months ago in 80-degree weather. He said the heat in Texas didn't bother him because of the underlying mission to honor the military.

This is the third year for Wounded Warrior event.
