GRAND PRAIRIE — Project Green is WFAA's campaign that aims to educate North Texans on how to live cleaner, smarter and richer lives to help preserve the environment.

This week, educators who are teaching that very lesson in the classroom are being honored.

On Monday, Freeda Alvares was given Project Green's first Eco-Educator Award.

At Grand Prairie's Immaculate Conception School, Alvares incorporates environmental activities into her daily curriculum, which has included creating a school garden.
