Prospect Luis Guillorme hasn’t made it past High-A St. Lucie in the Mets’ system, but he found the perfect way to make an impression on the big-league club Thursday.
With the Marlins’ Adeiny Hechavarria at the plate, a swing-and-miss sent the bat soaring towards the Mets’ dugout. The entire team took cover at the sight of the flying bat. Well, everyone except for Guillorme.
The 22-year-old shortstop stared down the bat and made a sensational one-handed grab.
Guillorme didn’t even flinch. He just reached his hand out and caught the bat.
According to the Mets’ scouting report, Guillorme is known for his glove. He’s a projected All-Star level defensive player with Gold Glove potential. Now we can see why.
