Updated 2 p.m. Saturday

CARROLLTON, Texas -- A man accused in the killing of a Carrollton man was arrested at the U.S.-Mexico border in El Paso this week, police said Saturday.

Danny Aragon-Marquez, 28, had fled to Mexico shortly after the death of Randy Dugger, 49, who was fatally shot, according to a police news release. Aragon-Marquez, who was roommates with Dugger, was arrested by U.S. authorities Wednesday at the El Paso border entry, police said.

Aragon-Marquez was booked into the Carrollton jail on Friday night, then transferred to the Dallas County jail, where he was being held without bond Saturday.

Original story (May 29):

Officials found Dugger in a house in the 2200 block of Crockett Drive shortly before 7:30 a.m. on May 29. Police said officers were called to the home because of a carbon monoxide alarm, but that's not how the victim died. They believe someone killed him.

Danny Aragon-Marquez was last seen driving a red, 2012 Honda Accord with damage to the front door.

Dugger would have turned 50 years old on May 31, officials said. His family said they ask for privacy, but said he was the kind of man who would “give you the shirt off his back, the last beer in the fridge, and the last dollar in his wallet.”

Dugger, survived by his wife of 31 years, three adult sons, and one adult daughter whom he was set to soon walk down the aisle at her wedding, also had six grandchildren he adored.
